We will have the tryout date for new 2011-2012 ASD Varsity Cheer Squad. Any students (8th to 11th grade students) are welcome to join. Contact Ju Ju for tryout application form to sign it (deadline is March 16th).
The dates for practices/tryout are... • Clinic cheer tryout (practices) - March 28 to March 30 - 330 to 530 pm at NAC gym (basketball court). • Final tryout - March 31 - 330 to 530 pm. (Judging time!) Wish our ASD “prospective cheerleading” students BIG good luck! GO LEOPARDS GO! |
Football season is over. Whew - it was good season for my cheerleaders (Jr. Varsity and Varsity). It was a lot of learning progress and it's getting better daily...
Now it's basketball season. My cheerleaders are looking forward for the first game tonight (Nov. 6th). So far I have Varsity squad (4 girls and 2 boys) and Jr. Varsity squad (6 girls). Cheer competitions - normally we will have 3 of them. However Cotton Classic is cancelled (first weekend of December). We still have 2 left (2nd weekend of Dec. at TSD - Rangers Classic and 2nd weekend of Feb. at OSD - GPSD). So wish us (Varsity squad) good luck! |

2012 ASD Summer/Pre-Season Athletic Camp (Football, Volleyball, Cheerleading) August 5-10, 2012 (Monday to Thursday from 9:30am to 1:30am for Cheer practice) If you wish to attend this camp (for cheerleading camp) - contact Jon Parker first (jonp@asd.k12.ar.us) to get package information. I'll be there as Cheer Coach - looking forward to see any male and female students (grade 6 to 12). |
Summer is almost over. It's time to begin new 2012-2013 ASD Varsity Cheer Squad. Right now, we have 6 tentative cheerleaders. I'm looking forward to work with this new team. (2 veterans and 4 rookies). |
Now we have currently 9 cheerleaders. As you noticed they have new uniforms on it. I hope y'all like it! They are thrilled to have them on and it looks FABULOUS!

FYI - 2011 GPSD (8 deaf schools) at KSD (Kansas) - my ASD cheerleaders (Glenda, Haley and Minesha) won 2nd runner up for Cheer Competition! Haley won her All-Tournament Player for cheer section. Be sure to give them congrats and I'm STILL proud of them!!!

Our ASD cheerleaders did wonderful job for Clerc Classic XI at TSD (Texas) during cheerleading competitions. There are 8 teams (included ASD) and unfortuntly ASD did not win anything. ASD Varsity Cheerleding Squad won 2nd Runner Up for Leopard Classic Cheerleading Competition last Saturday Dec. 11, 2010 (Sha'Kaira, Erin, Glenda and Minesha)! Jasmine is one of six All Tournament Cheerleaders! (Arkansas, Texas and Louisiana) ! Congratulations to our cheerleaders! They did AWESOME job! Next cheerleading competition will be at KSD (Kansas) for G.P.S.D. tourament in Feb. 2011. Good Luck girls! |

I'm exciting to be back to school in 2012-2013 with two new cheer squads - Jr. Varsity and Varsity.
Jr. Varsity squad: Maddie, Marisa, Anna, Alerys, Jocelyn, and Ciara Varsity squad: Tyna (drummer/manager), Mariah, Deanda, Sha'Kaira, and Glenda. (Boys: Jonathan & Kenji in basketball season) I checked my calendar and Varsity squad will have three cheer competitions: 1. Cotton Classic @ Mississippi (first weekend of December) 2. Rangers Classic @ Texas (second weekend of December) 3. GPSD @ Oklahoma (second weekend of February). It will be very busy for them to get preparation for cheers, chants, stunts and dances. Wow! Time has gone SO fast for our 2011-2012 Varsity Cheer Squad...
Highlight during 2011-2012... • Before we have 10 cheerleaders in fall - now in winter, we have 5 cheerleaders and one manager... • In Classic (at Louisiana School for the Deaf) - we did not place any cheer award (we are 4th - last place but still proud of my ladies!). Rocky won All-Tournament Player for Cheer section. • In GPSD (at Minnesota State Academy for the Deaf) - we won 3rd place (out of 7 teams included us). It was very hot competition and our ladies did excellent job! (1st place - WSD, 2nd place - ISD, and 3rd place - ASD). Also, we won 3-way tied for Cheer Spirit Award with OSD & MSAD. Minesha and Sha'Kaira won All-tournament Players for Cheer section. Now 2011-2012 ASD Cheer Squad is almost end of the year - but senior cheerleaders have one more duty left (Minesha, C'Tierra, Rocky and Deshanea). They will be assisting me with 2012-2013 Varsity Cheerleading Squad TRYOUT on March 26th, April 1st, 8th, & 15th. Good luck to wanna-be cheerleaders for this special tryout! |
ASD will have Jr. Varsity and Varsity Sports Banquet on April 28th at Breeding Cafeteria. 2010-2011 Cheer Squad already voted one cheerleader for 2010-2011 ASD Cheerleader of the Year. It will be annouced during Sports Banquet! |
