Ray Boland

K-12 Principal

Rayburn Boland joined ASD’s team in the fall of 2015 in the role of Principal. Rayburn brings fifteen-plus years of teaching experience with him to ASD.  Prior to his administration /teaching career, he earned his BS in psychology at Gallaudet University; he also earned his MS in Deaf education from McDaniel College.  While teaching, he continued his studies and earned Ed.S in School Building Leadership Administration at Gallaudet University.

Rayburn worked at Alabama School for the Deaf as Middle School English Teacher, Dean of Elementary dormitories, and residential advisor for 15 years.  He also assumed other roles such as Volleyball and Girls’ basketball assistant coach and coordinator of the Shared Reading Project. In 2008, he accepted the job offer at Indiana School for the Deaf as high school Principal, then moved to Louisiana School for the Deaf to serve as Principal. In 2012 Rayburn got a job offer at New York School for the Deaf known as Fanwood, the second oldest deaf school in nation as a director of curriculum and assessment then later became Middle and High School principal.  He is married to Elaine and has two sons.
